THE CRUNCH!

The Crunch, (Nickelodeon UK, 2005 - 2006) is considered lost media, as parent-network Viacom had very poor archiving practices around live and continuity shows during that era. Like similar Nick continuity shows from the 2000s, the only archive of the show comes from home recordings made by viewers.  Since Nickelodeon UK was still a fairly new pay channel in the mid-2000s, that makes the incidence of any home recordings even rarer.

Although Nickelodeon had many live and interstitial shows during the 2000s, The Crunch was easily my favorite.  It was a show that kept the kids at the forefront, even assigning them production roles.  A unique blend of gameshow and studio participation, the kid crew and presenters improvised creatively through low budget props and set-pieces, creating a dynamic and energy that has rarely been matched in any other show.

I had the opportunity to see some of The Crunch in the late 2000s, thanks to an awesome trading partner.  The production design and vibe of the show was very special.  Unfortunately, my only copy was subsequently lost.  If you have anything from The Crunch, or you just want to share your memories of watching the show growing up, feel free to get in touch.  It would mean so much.
